Scheu- Dental BIOSTAR® 4-Aligner Duran®+ Strips

Available in PK 10 or PK 100

The BIOSTAR® 4-Aligner is a state-of-the-art thermoforming device. Its innovative technology allows up to 4 aligners to be thermoformed simultaneously, giving an impressive production capacity of 160 aligners per hour. Each aligner is moulded in its own pressure chamber at 4 bar. The BIOSTAR® 4-Aligner offers the flexibility of choosing from various SCHEU-DENTAL foil formats, including round foils with a diameter of 120-125 mm, and also rectangular strips (499 x 114 mm), only available from SCHEU-DENTAL, which enable simultaneous fabrication of four aligners. The device reaches its ideal working temperature within just a few seconds thanks to the unique thermally controlled infrared heater. All relevant parameters, such as heating and cooling time, can be accessed using a scanner or by entering a code. The colour display guides the user clearly through the individual steps of the thermoforming process. The BIOSTAR® 4-Aligner interface enables easy software updates, ensuring that the device is always up to date with the latest technology.

Description:

Duran®+ Strips is a clear transparent PET-G thermoplastic. The material is tough and abrasion-resistant with excellent properties in terms of breaking resistance, elasticity and form stability. DURAN® belongs to the family of polyester resins,
combining extremely low water absorption and highest bio-compatibility (it does not require pre-drying). The material
has been tested and approved in terms of cell biology.
Indication:  Duran®+ Strips is ideally suited for all indications in prosthetic and orthodontic splint therapy, such as Miniplast splints,
bruxism splints, occlusal splints, CMD splints, retention splints as well as Essix retainer and palatal expansion.
Contraindication: Not suitable for partial adjustment using light-curing acrylics, as primer may weaken the material in the transition
areas and thus increase the risk of fracture.
Intolerances: The product shall not be used in case of known intolerance to polyethylene terephthalate or acetaldehyde.
Preparing the model: Before thermoforming DURAN®, the model should be insulated with an ISOFOLAN® foil (REF 3207) in order to achieve
optimum transparency and smooth inner surfaces that are easy to clean. Cut the ISOFOLAN® foil to the desired splint
extension and perforate interdentally/occlusally with a probe/scalpel to avoid air bubbles.
Pressure moulding: Full models should be embedded in the pellets and dental arcade models should be placed on the model platform.
As you can see from the imprint directly on the material or on the packaging labels, the heating times for DURAN® are
extremely short. The initial thickness of DURAN® will be reduced depending on the model height.
Finishing: Up to a thickness of 1.0 mm,  Duran®+ Strips can be easily trimmed with SD foil scissors A (REF 3460). For all other thicknesses, we recommend the finishing set (REF 3378). Final trimming and polishing can be most effectively done with DIMO
/ DIMO® PRO abrasives (REF 3380-3384/3376). Compound and adjustment with cold cure resins (f.ex. DURASPLINT®)
is possible without any problems. Roughening of splint surface is not required. For most C+B respectively temporary
materials – especially bis-acrylic composite – you should use a corresponding bonding agent.
Cleaning/care: Products from the CETRON® range are the best choice for daily cleaning and care. Detergents or products on the base
of alcohol or plants (e.g. Pyralvex®) as well as hot water or steam jets should not be used.
